The Industrial Training Assessment Center (ITAC) is a national program sponsored by the Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains (MESC) of the Department of Energy (DOE). ITACs are located at 36 universities across the country.
The mission of the UNT ITAC is to assist small- and medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs) in North Texas
The UNT Center, based on its operations since 2023, provided energy, productivity, and waste assessments leading to recommended cost savings of over $150,000 per year on average.
The ITAC program is a valuable tool for any industrial manufacturing site seeking to stay competitive in today's market. The reports from the energy assessments are independent and not biased by the desire to generate sales or consulting opportunities.
Qualifying small and medium-sized US manufacturers that received ITAC assessments since 2018 can apply for grants of up to $300,000 per unique assessment recommendation, at a 50% cost share, for implementation. Learn more about the Complete DOE Announcement and Implementation Grant Program.
One of the primary objectives of the ITAC is to train the next generation of energy engineering experts and leaders. Receiving practical training in energy, productivity, and waste assessment tools and techniques, students working at the ITAC gain a competitive advantage in the job market. The UNT ITAC produces graduates who enjoy high job placement and fulfilling careers in these fields.
